All Medu Netcher icons have been designed following a grid system of 10 units in height. Some archaeological evidence demonstrates that the ancient Egyptians also used this system. The writing in this application is also distributed along a 10 unit grid. Selecting this option will make that grid visible.

Enabling this option will display the icons through the application in silhouette mode (that is, without any internal details to emulate the Pyramid Texts, some Noble’s coffins from the Middle Kingdom or painted Theban tombs, in addition to a large number of ancient artifacts).

Enabling this option will display the hieroglyphic texts and the single icons in the catalogue in reversed reading direction.

Enabling this option will display the Helper icons at the Icon Catalog section. Help icons are not actual icons in hieroglyphic writing, but were created to avoid repeating parts in other icons. They can also be used to search for related icons.

Transliterations are entered following the Leiden Unified Transliteration Standard as agreed during the 13th International Congress of Egyptologists in 2023. By enabling this option, the official font type Trlit GR Times will be applied to the transliterations. The updated version of this font can be downloaded for free from here. When a transliteration text is copied, the text added to the clipboard will be the one in Latin characters ready to apply the font type if needed (i.e. something like "kA nxt xa m WAst" will be copied as "kA nxt xa m WAst").

Enabling this option will display the dates in MM/DD/YYYY format instead of the european format (i.e. DD/MM/YYYY).
